About Bribie AcupunctureJessica Yung - BHSc., BSc.
I am a doctor of Chinese Medicine who's left a corporate career behind, trading in a flash office for a cosy clinic room. Growing up with Chinese medicine means taking herbal formulas, drinking strange smelling soups, and getting unusual sounding lifestyle lectures from my parents are normal parts of my everyday life. The voice prompting me to pursue Chinese medicine as a career spoke the loudest after my mom began seeing an acupuncturist located nearest to my small Canadian hometown – a three hour drive away (!) – and finally found relief from her arthritic pain. My upbringing, my mom’s incredible recovery after years of pain, and my desire to promote this amazing medicine, made becoming an acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner a natural fit and progression for me.
Chinese medicine sees the body as an ecosystem and aims to treat not only symptoms, but correct the root causes of disease. One of my favourite analogies involves the treatment of a river that is beginning to run dry: Chinese medicine would not contemplate simply filling the river with a rush of water from a dam, but would gently seed the clouds to release rain to naturally fill the river and nourish its surroundings. I love the way in which Chinese medicine works in natural harmony with the body to bring about health and wellbeing. I'm now a resident of Bribie Island after having split my time between Bribie and Brisbane for many, many months where I was also practicing at two wonderful, prominent and busy acupuncture clinics, Kirsty Eng Fertility and Spring Acupuncture. I've treated a wide range of conditions and clients including those aged in their 80's, competitive athletes, those trying to conceive (naturally and with IVF), cancer patients, teenagers, stroke survivors, and celebrities (yes, really!). My clinical focus includes women's health, fertility, pain conditions, sports recovery & performance, and more. |

Wendy Ryan - BHSc.
Hi, my name is Wendy and I am excited to be practising at Bribie Acupuncture. I spent the last five years working as a Doctor of Chinese Medicine in Caboolture and North Lakes, and am now lucky enough to be working and living in beautiful Bribie Island. My extended studies has allowed me to incorporate a repertoire of various acupuncture styles into my treatment plans allowing me to create a customised approach for each client on their journey to health and recovery. Acupuncture is not just for backs and necks, its application is vast and frequently sought for chronic and complicated issues, women’s health, pain and much more. Whatever your ailment, acupuncture may be the natural medicine you are looking for.
Having spent 20 years in Darwin and other various parts of Australia and the last 16 years in the Moreton Bay region, the call to the water found my family finally making the move to Bribie Island in February 2021. In my downtime I love just chilling with my family and dogs, but I’m also a keen adrenalin junkie, taking up kiteboarding 7 years ago. You’re never too old to give anything a go - and besides there’s always acupuncture to help with any injuries and ailments that sometimes comes with the territory! |
